Why we ditched Sula for Vallonne Vineyards!?

Would you rather go to a touristy commercial place or would you rather have a more quaint experience and take the off-beaten path!?

If your answer is the latter then you must go ahead and read the rest of this post.

It was my best friend’s birthday and we decided to do something different this time and have ourselves a little getaway (you can easily add this into your list of girl trips to make or recommend). Unfortunately the rest of our gang couldn’t make it but boy did we have some fun. All of that actually went up on my Instagram (so make sure to catch follow me on @thestylechair for daily updates).

Let’s move on to tell you all about the Stay at Vallonne Vineyard and why we thought it to be a good choice amongst other vineyards.

Never heard of Vallonne!?

There is a reason behind that. The people at Vallonne apparently think a lot like me and hate things being too commercial. Vallonne is in fact called a ‘boutique’ vineyard.

At Vallonne you can get the complete wine experience with customised winery tours and wine tastings. Right from introducing Vallonne wines, the process of winemaking from plucking the grapes to bottling of the wine and discerning the aromas and flavours of the wine. Of which they even give you a complete tour and insight into the whole process along with knowledge of their wines along with a tasting by the wine connoisseur.

The property even houses Malaka Spice, the restaurant specialising in South East Asian cuisine.

Where is Vallonne?

Nasik being the Wine capital this is very much around Nasik. Located at Igatpuri which infact happens to be much closer to Mumbai than Pune. From Pune city we took about 5 and a half hours to reach Vallonne. While the drive on NH60 of about 100 plus Kms was a smooth six lane drive, parts of the drive took us through the villages where the roads were like typical Indian roads with patch work (the road not yet being in shambles, as we went before the monsoons).

Address: GAT 504, Kavnai Shivar, Near Sanjegaon,

Taluka Igatpuri, Nashik 422 403. India.

The best part about Vallonne?

I know i’m repeating this but I genuinely love doing things that aren’t mainstream and exploring places that not everyone does. I hate places that are overcrowded, so Vallonne turned out to be just perfect. Although Vallonne was quite packed on the Sunday noon we reached and in contrast became so peaceful on Monday.

Secondly, I have to admit one of the main reasons to choose Vallonne was that they had Malaka Spice. Every pune-ite who loves asian cuisine loves Malaka Spice and to be eating at Malaka for two whole days and having all our favourites like Khao Suey, Top Hats, Phad Thai and ofcourse their yummilicious Sangrias was the best treat to ourselves. A little word of caution- dont expect the exact same quality as the Malaka Spice in Pune because the top chefs at their restaurant in the cities aren’t at the property in Vallonne.

The staff at the restaurant was extremely courteous welcoming and accommodating. A lovely thing that they had also done was that they kept our wine bottle that we had bought at the restaurant with our room number noted on it. So we actually consumed that bottle of wine over three meals, where they would serve us the wine as and when we wanted and would keep it refrigerated the rest of the time.

TIP: if you plan to have the wine in the room at night and just chill in the balcony then don’t buy the bottle at the restaurant and rather buy the bottle at the vineyard pricing. This makes up for a difference of about 400 bucks. Of Course then you cannot use this bottle at the restaurant.

Even if you are just going for a brunch then reserve the long table next to the window facing the vineyard. It was my favourite spot, felt insanely blissful to stare out at the vineyard and the hills. A picture perfect painting vibe.

Is it worth staying at Vallonne?

If you are looking at a peaceful getaway from Mumbai or Pune then Vallonne is a must. In Fact I would stay there even if it wasn’t for the wine.

The rooms are just right for two people with a sizeable balcony. The garden facing rooms came to 5000 per night (at the weekday rate) and breakfast included. In fact we spent most of our time at the restaurant so didn’t miss out at all on not having the vineyard facing room. To make sure people stay connected with nature they purposely don’t have WiFi. FYI the network connectivity works perfectly fine by itself anyway.

The food is a major yes and the staff is extremely helpful. The breakfast at the property is quite filling too.

They even have cycles to roam around the area (not in the vineyard of course).
