Airport Fashion Decoded with The Style Chair

So we see Miss Malini or even Magazines (Vogue, Elle, etc. Online) catching our celebrities at the airport and praising their ‘Airport Fashion’. Ever wondered what’s the whole ‘Airport Fashion’ hype?

In this post TSC shall break down Airport Fashion like no one has before. Airport Fashion might not seem like a big deal but with the travel season on you ladies have got to slay at the airport too 😉

Let me just go completely layman and break down Airport fashion: Dress as per the occasion, ground rule right? Here, the occasion is travelling! Comfortable dressing is the way to go when travelling.

What to wear to slay Airport Fashion?

A jacket is a must because airports can get quite chilly. A light jacket for a summer vacay and a comfortable overcoat or a leather jacket make the perfect fit for airport fashion and a winter vacation.

A t-shirt is the best bet for airport fashion or even a loose shirt.

Bottom Wear- Loose and comfortable lowers is what you must opt for a journey. With Joggers trending these days that would be my first option (Bewakoof.com has a special whole collection for just Joggers). Harem pants & palazzo pants definitely make for comfort wear.

For a beach holiday I would happily travel in flip flops and get into the beach mode already.

Skater shoes and slip on shoes would be a good option so as to avoid the trouble of opening up your shoes later to put your feet up. But nothing yet beats the comfort of a pair of sneakers.

For a winter break definitely wear your boots. This way you would save your boots from getting spoilt in trying to pack the high rise boots. (Although you will be made to remove the boots at security check).

Layer it Up!

A scarf or a stole should be a staple when travelling. Not only does it add a little zing to your look but will also keep you warm instead of throwing on a jacket.

What not to wear at an Airport?

Heels– do you want to be walking all around the airport in heels and tire yourself out even before you start your holiday? Don’t you think you would be a wre bit overdressed in heels at an airport! Even celebrities don’t do that :p

Tight fit clothes– travelling clothes should be all about comfort and face it tight fit clothes are definitely not comfortable to travel in.

Statement jewellery– again it’s an airport not a club. And out of my own experience I shall warn you that the security officials will be quite a pain with their checking and make you remove all your accessories.

More than a year back I had done a post on How to Travel in Style and organise your packing➡ Pack it Right & Light by TSC Some points might be repeatitive here:

Caps and hats look pretty cool at an airport and also keep them messy hair off the face. I personally hate my hats getting crumpled by packing them and if I run out of space in my hand carried luggage then I just wear it 😉 Simple.

Travel Bag

Totes (the neverfull LV bag is your luxe option), duffel bags & the best of them all backpacks (I’ve been drooling over the all new MK Backpacks though 😍)

Neck pillow

Lots of brands like Chumbak have some very quirky looking Neck pillows. Orelse at every airport you will find Neck pillows being sold at some store or the other.

Eye mask

Long travel means you can catch up on all the sleep you normally miss out on. Wear a fun looking eye mask and sleep away like a baby (in style 😉 )

This post was a very special request by a reader who mailed me her request. I’ve had it in my mind to do a post on Airport fashion but all thanks to her I actually went ahead and finally did this post. Apologies for the delay though 🙂

  1. I always like dressing comfy while travelling. Once i wore heels to travel, i hated myself. Now if i’m going straight into a meeting after landing, i wear sneaks and carry my heels inside my handbag.
