As little girls when we were gifted flavoured Lip balms or Glosses It used to fascinate us to no end! It was the biggest deal as a teen to wear Eyeliner/Kajal & Gloss!
There on, our need, greed & girly desires never stopped….
Which Girl doesn’t love having a huge wardrobe!
I’ve very slowly & steadily have been collecting over the years! Hence everything of mine is like my baby that I cant part with!
With stuff coming in every year from relatives abroad & having collected quite a bit of Makeup over the past few years myself (because Every six months I seemed to be crushing on either Eyemakeup/ Blush tints/ Lip Glosses)
I can Proudly say I have quite a Selective Collection now 😀
I absolutely Love Shopping not really hoarding! Which means I buy a lot of ‘New’ things & Never Duplicate my stuff!
Whether Makeup, Clothes or Accessories… My Mantra for Building a Kit/ Collection would be- Think about
- What you Really need at a given point,
- Then do your Research &
- Buy!
First Fulfil Your Need, Not your Greed!
(Ofcourse when you have extra money & nothing specific on your wishlist then, just be impulsive & Splurge! But when do we Girls really have buffer money :p)
Having my mum around when I shop is The Best for me as she gently reminds me what I need first & how there’s no point of going home with something that u already Might have!
We all either have or want an Enviable Makeup kit. But the worst is when you have a lot of Makeup but don’t know What to do with it!!
As a MUA & as a girl who has been deliberately collecting for years now, I’m going to layout my Makeup Essentials, to help u Know What All you can have to Flaunt a Fancy Makeup Kit for now. There on in the Following Blogs im going to show you How to Use them & Transform Urself 😀
Following pictures attached are of my Products with a Description & Why I have it in my Collection!
PS: Majority of the Collection is my Personal Use Collection and not my Professional Kit!
- PRIMER:
So the first step after Preping your skin i.e. cleanisng, toning & moisturizing is your Primer!
Primer helps to minimize pores & facial imperfections like the appearance of blemishes, lines by filling them. Its evens out the skin to give a polished look before starting your makeup. Just like any other product u get seperate primers for dry & oily skin as well!

- BASE/ FOUNDATION:
Just as the name suggests this THE Most important Step because if ur Base isn’t right the rest of the makeup just doesn’t fall into place!
Different foundations available would be-
- Cream Foundation
- Liquid foundation
- Mousse Foundation
- Powder Foundation
Always remember Dry skin needs Hydration so liquids work best for it & Oily skin needs a Matte Effect so Cream & powder foundations work Best for them!
Kryolan & MAC are amazing for the Base as their texture & tones match with our Indian skin tone & can keep up to our weather conditions! As they are Professional Products they have Foundations of light to medium to heavy coverage to choose from.
Bobbi Brown is the more Exquisite Range that works Best for Indian skin tone as their shades are very compatible & a Haven for Dry & Mature skin as their Creamy Base is just superbly hydrating!
APPLICATION of Foundation can be done with:
- Sponge
- Foundation Brush
- Fingertips
For the Flawless Finish to the foundation application, A Stipling Brush/ Buffing Brush is the best! Even a Latex Sponge does the trick as well…
- CONCEALER
Also known as Colour Correctors, Concealers are used to hide pigmentation, dark circles, age spots, large pores & small blemishes.
Concealers are generally thicker and more pigmented than foundations!
Always choose a Shade Lighter for a Concealer.
I absolutely swear by the MAC Studio Finish Concealer as its high on coverage, suits my skin tone & oily skin! Its also best for your day makeup as it has spf 35 protection & can handle humid weather & still look fabulous!

Almost the same goes for the Kryolan Cream Base palettes (Supra Palette has a medium-heavy coverage & is the best for regular wear)
- PRESSED POWDER/ TRANSLUCENT POWDER:
A Pressed Powder is generally used over the foundation to Set the Base! It can also be used As It Is.
Pressed Powders are very Light, so its basically just used to Matify & slightly Even Out the skin whether with or without makeup!
Application with a Puff or with a Powder Brush.

My First Foundation buy was the MAC Mineralize spf15 Loose Foundation– my instant liking went towards it as i have Oily skin plus it has a Medium coverage & I didnt want to start with a heavy coverage & scare myself :p Very Cute Packaging & the inside has a Powder puff Attached. Also after using this i never felt to use a powder post it! Basically now its my Foundation i use when im Lazy 😉
BB CREAM– my Latest Buy from MAC as my last bb cream just expired! (yes pls! check the expiry date for your foundations especially)
For me this is a Miraculous product! it has its Prep+Prime technology which means basically you don’t need a primer, it has spf 35 protection! since, its a BB Cream so its basically a tinted Cream that gives your skin a natural glow by Slightly covering any Imperfections & giving the skin a more even tone! Beautiful for Daywear for those who dont need too much coverage for their skin.

MAC Pro Longwear Foundation: My Go-To Foundation for my Saturday night out! Its creamy its lightweight & Lasts Uptil 15Hours through all ur dancing & sweating! The Natural Finish yet True Stay Colour is what makes it my Fav for a nighout dancing 🙂
MAC Studio Fix powder Plus Foundation: One Step Foundation product with the application ease of a powder! Provides smooth flawless matte finish with full coverage… it comes with a sponge applicator, if you wet the sponge the product can be used wet as well!
Avon Pressed Powder– I love this because apart from doing its job perfectly well as a powder, this partcular one is so small which makes it my best Travel Buddy!
Kryolan Supra Palette– a Bare Essential for every MUA! But if u find ur right shade you can pick up single packaging too as a concealer or even as a Full Face Base…. this product is quite comparable to the MAC Studio Finish Concealer (obviously the MAC one out does itself in humid conditions)
- KABUKI BRUSH
If you want that Pro not so made up look then you have got to Invest in a Kabuki Brush! its made of Natural Fibres, the MAC 182 is made of goat hair. It helps in even application of powder, blush & mineral powders and gives a very Natural looking Coverage.
The main reason why i bought the Brush was because- its so soft that it doesnt irritate my (sensitive) skin how many ever times i might run it over my skin!

“The Best thing is to Look Natural, but it takes Makeup to Look Natural”
- BLUSH/ HIGHLIGHTER/ BRONZER
Im gonna do a whole seperate Post on Highlighting & Contouring because its one of my Fav parts of makeup!
So Basically, you Need One/Two Blush colours, a Highlighter & a Bronzer/ Contouring Shade.
Broadly Blush Shades can be- pink, peach, mauve, coral hues!
PS: Inglot lets you custom make a palette for your blushes too! Buying a palette gives you options & the sizing is just right, so when it gets over you can buy newer shades 😉
Highlighter is a very light shimmery shade! i Absolutely love the Lakme Highlighter & Bronzer as not very many brands available in the market even have a Highlighter! Plus along with a bronzer if you can buy it at 700 rupees its a Steal!
Bronzers give you that bronzey tone, the darker the shade of the bronzer its effect is just more pronounced! Its a Gorgeous product for that Sun-kissed Look. The same with 2-3 applications give you that Chiseled look for a glam night-out 😉
BRUSHES:
- Small Blush Brush- for the Highlighter
- Big Blush Brush- for Blush application (Kabuki Brush would still be my first preference)
- Angular Brush- for Contouring/ Bronzer
A Big Mention to my Kryolan Angular (Contouring) Brush! The first time I felt this brush it was like a feather brushed across my skin. Its made of squirrel hair making it Super Soft and its Shape makes it precise. Hence makes it my Favourite Brush ❤

I Just love this Mousse Blush by Maybelline, love the texture & the shade! Cream blushes as well give a nice sheen to the cheeks as well & thats what I love about them. Cream blushes need to be applied with Finger generally so you need to be fast with the application orelse it doesnt spread & looks Blotchy!

- BRUSH KIT: Having a brush kit is Important! We do end up using quite a few brushes, it helps you keep them all in one place and better to keep it away from dust!

- EYE MAKEUP:
I love classic & vintage looks, But I love Experimenting too! The one thing that can be Colourful & Fun in your Makeup is u Eyes!
Best thing to do is buy palettes! You can choose your shades as per your Liking. Again a Special mention the the Inglot Eyeshadow Palettes, they have sizes of 3,4,5,10,20. Refils just @400 bucks is just a Steal (I prefer it to buying the MAC Palette)
